Welcome to Davenport Elementary!

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your family to Davenport Elementary, home of the Dolphins. I am excited for this upcoming school year. Our school is full of exciting opportunities and we will make lots of memories again this year and every year to follow. The school has a rich history of educating students and sending successful learners onto middle school and beyond to do GREAT things. We will continue that tradition as well as make new ones, together. I am excited to be your principal and want to assure you that this is the BEST school and this will be your BEST year ever! Please read over the student uniform requirements and the supply list to familiarize yourself with our expectations at DES. It's great to be a Davenport Dolphin!

Mrs. Brown, Principal

Davenport Elementary Restoration

Our school will be opened in August of 2020 and serves a portion of the Davenport Community currently previously served at neighboring schools, Horizons Elementary and Loughman Oaks Elementary. We will be welcoming approximately 647 students on the first day of school with the ability to house 835 students when we reach full capacity. The Davenport community is very excited about having a neighborhood school again in the center of their town. We will be partnered with many businesses and volunteers that have already begun committing to help us reach our goals for success. Many of our students will be within walking distance of the school so we will be asking for the assistance of residence to ensure the safety of our students and their families as they travel to and from school.

During the construction process, the original building built in 1927 has been restored and will once again be the center of the campus. One of the highlights is the restoration of the auditorium, balcony and orchestra pit along with the hardwood floors and ceilings. The building will also house the administration as well as 8 classrooms. The collaborative efforts of the Historical Society of Davenport, the City of Davenport as well as the Polk County School Board have allowed this project to be one of the most anticipated events in Northeast Polk County in a good while. Last year was like no other and we look forward to opening our doors to our community of supporters, stakeholders and of course, our Dolphin families. We are very excited to welcome our Dolphins back to school on August 10th, our first day of school.
